Local, seasonal ingredients

Throughout the year we work with local suppliers to choose ingredients that are in season: that means we get the pick of the freshest, tastiest and most nutritious food available now.

 

Our seasonal sourcing helps us plan our menus, and you’ll find locally grown butternut squash and root veg in autumn and winter, as well as rosy eating apples and pears, and Conference pears and apples for crumbles and cakes.

In the spring we use greens and rhubarb, and fresh organic salads in the summer term.

 

We’re also particularly selective when it comes to sourcing meat, chicken, fish and free range eggs, and we rely on our local connections to source good quality good value and sustainable supplies.

 

Of course, there are ingredients we’ll need all year round that aren’t always available or possible to grow or source locally, and again we’ll buy from an ethical supplier to support the local economy.
