Benefits

Healthy food is essential for learning…but we make it good fun too. We choose our menus to be a balance of tasty, healthy and treaty – ‘Lush, lush, lush!’ as lots of our students say. Your children will soon be asking, ‘What’s for lunch today mum?’

Healthy body & mind

Schools have told us that children are often better behaved, calmer and concentrate better after they’ve had our cooked lunches. Obviously children need nutritious food to grow and learn, and we also find that children like eating with their friends, and will try new foods with them that they may not try at home.

Healthy school

As well as the benefits for the students, our lunches are good for the whole school. Better behaved and engaged children make lessons more effective and easier for teachers. A proper lunch makes children more sociable. And we think food education is a really vital part of every child’s learning.

Convenient & affordable

When your child has our lunches, you know that they’re getting a proper meal…without you having to cook it, or pack a lunchbox in the morning. It also takes the pressure off you to cook a big meal in the evening. Maybe the best thing is that our lunches are so affordable – and we think probably even cheaper than buying everything for a lunchbox. You could even get free school meals – find out here.

Here’s what one parent told us about our lunches:

“Local Food Links meals have completely transformed the eating habits of both our children but particularly our eldest daughter who has autism.

When she started school, she would only eat a worryingly limited diet. She started to have Local Food Links meals at school and within just three weeks, her eating habits were unrecognisable.

After three years of hot meals she will now eat almost anything she is given. Her diet is now varied, interesting and she enjoys her food so much more. It is a huge reassurance to me to know that the meals are nutitionally balanced and made with good quality, locally sourced ingredients wherever they can be.

The girls have a hot meal every lunchtime and this allows us to take part in many more after school activities as I don't have to worry about being home in time to prepare a hot meal in the evening. This gives us more time together to enjoy ourselves and then we have tea when we get home that they are allowed to choose - within reason!”
