Elwell Fruit Farm
Established in 1948, Elwell Fruit Farm is a family business growing top fruits on around 21 hectares north of Bridport. As well as supplying supermarkets with top quality apples and pears, Elwell also supplies farmers’ markets in Dorset – and this has led to demand for scarce old-fashioned varieties.
Now, Elwell has planted a special area of the farm with more unusual and historic varieties – and feedback has been very positive. The farm is a full member of the Assured Produce Scheme for orchard fruit, which promotes environmentally responsible production, so it uses minimal fertilizers and pesticides in the orchards.
